About the Role

As a Consunet Software Engineer you will be joining a high-performing and supportive team of professionals working towards the development and delivery of advanced software systems. You will deliver an energetic attitude working proactively in an Agile team to design, implement, test and evaluate novel solutions to complex problems in the domains of electronic warfare, distributed data processing and geospatial data visualisation.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience working within Agile software engineering teams, have capability to provide mentorship where necessary, and are an adaptable team player within a goal-orientated culture.
  • Knowledge of implementing and testing software using modern technologies and frameworks.
  • Have experience with multiple software languages, you are adjustable, but have an in-depth understanding of one of the following: Java, JavaScript, and/or Python.
  • Conduct peer reviews of code/design/documentation.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.
  • Good team work and communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of source code management tools such as Git and have experience using GitHub, GitLab and/or BitBucket.

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Relevant degree in Software Engineering and/or Computer Sciences.
  • Minimum 2 years Industry experience in software development.
  • Have experience with software frameworks such as: SpringBoot, Angular, Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Redis, RabbitMQ, Azure, etc.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles, including continuous integration and delivery to automate development and deployment processes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful candidates must be eligible to hold and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility requirements can be found at www.defence.gov.au/security/clearances.
