Australian Electromagnetic Battle Management capability success

July 2024

Adelaide based software technology company Consunet Pty Ltd (Consunet) is pleased to announce its successful delivery of Stage 1 of the next generation Electromagnetic Battle Management (EMBM) solution under Australian Defence project JP9321 EMBM.

Consunet won the Australian Defence JP9321 EMBM contract in fiscal year 2022 from a competitive field of Prime System Integrators. This capability allows users to make timely decisions on Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) use and prioritisation to achieve command objectives. Stage 1 delivered the initial EMS operations capability underpinned by an open architecture and a software capability factory to continuously evolve and integrate capabilities into the future. Stage 2 capability delivery is ongoing through the continuous development of this advanced information system using the Agile delivery strategy.

Consunet Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kuba Kabacinski, welcomed the Initial Operating Capability (IOC) achievement stating, ‘EMBM IOC success illustrates how Australian Defence confidence in sovereign industry can achieve effective and timely operational capability success’.

The 2024 Defence Industry Development Strategy identifies Sovereign Defence Industrial Priority (SDIP) 6 for integration and enhancement of battlespace awareness and management systems. ‘This $61 million dollar contract demonstrates a Commonwealth commitment to a sovereign Electromagnetic Battle Management capability. The delivery success showcases Consunet and our Australian Industry Capability supply chain ability to rapidly deliver SDIP 6 outcomes’, said Kabacinski.

Consunet has invested into scaling capability and capacity to be able to prime major Defence projects as a sovereign solution provider. Kabacinski noted that the Agile delivery strategy and modern software capability factory are the critical ingredients for this success. ‘Our people, innovation and facilities investments have delivered world-class, data-centric, cyber and spectrum security technology. We plan further investment with the aspiration to become a trusted strategic industry partner for Defence’.

Advanced technology delivery creates ongoing demand for talented software or systems engineers, data scientists, cyber specialists and project management professionals.
